You Can Still Enjoy Food while Dieting

So many people view dieting as some sort of cosmic punishment for not having the perfect body. They believe that enjoying food is somehow bad for them, which couldn't be further from the truth. If you want to be completely honest with yourself, when it comes to dieting, it isn't about giving up food or flavor; it's about discovering new foods and flavors. At least that is what it is for those who truly love food as well as adventure.

There are many spices out there that can make even the blandest of foods a little exciting. Fish and chicken are popular diet foods because they are lean meats. However, adding a little blackening seasoning is a great way to put a little punch in your meal that will make it taste great without packing on the calories of dressing marinades or soaking in butter before broiling. You do not have to stop there. Italian seasoning can also add a little flavor to your kitchen without adding the extra calories that you are working so hard to avoid.

Don’t Overindulge During the Holidays

Plan your strategy now.  Thanksgiving is just 3 days away, and is one of the highest calorie meals of the year!  You don't have to overeat to have a nice Thanksgiving. 

If you are in charge of the meal this year, plan lighter, low fat, and low calorie meal items.  For example, roasted sweet potatoes instead of a high sugar sweet potato casserole with marshmallows on top.  Make a nice green salad instead of a heavy green bean casserole.  For dessert, you can try a pumpkin pudding recipe instead of pie.  I guarantee, no one will miss the high-fat crust!

If you are going to be a guest at someone else's house, why not offer to bring a dish?  Make a salad or other item that you can enjoy, so that you won't feel deprived.  And, just because it is Thanksgiving you don't have to overdo it with extra large helpings.  Try to keep your serving sizes small.

After dinner, get some exercise.  Organize the children and adults to play games, make snowmen, and other outdoor activities if the weather allows.  You'll all feel better, and have a lot of fun in the process. 

Make a plan and stick to it.  If it helps, enlist a friend or relative to help you.  Maybe there is someone else who is dieting - you can help each other stay on track!  Whatever it takes, just keep losing!

Day 3 - Cabbage Soup Diet

Day 3 on the Cabbage Soup Diet - Actually, it’s not bad. It’s been cold out, so I enjoy the soup. Even though my husband had a big pizza last night, I was able to stick to the plan - so far.

I’ve lost a few pounds, so let’s get through the next four days. If you haven’t made the soup yet, definitely add the V-8 juice (look for low sodium). Otherwise it just doesn’t have much taste.

When it comes to dieting and diet commercials I’m sure that many of you have seen actresses Valerie Bertinelli and Queen Latifah singing the praises of Jenny Craig for helping them lose lots of weight. I’ve tried so many different ways to lose weight, and nothing seemed to work. I’ll admit, I have a problem sticking to any diet meal plan that is overly. I have no will-power. For example, I recently tried the 6-Week Body Makeover Plan.

Week one I lost 5 pounds, so I was encouraged; however, by the middle of the second week it was totally over for me. While the diet does work since it restricts fat, salt, dairy and many other foods, and keeps you to around 1100 - 1200 calories as far as I could calculate, I was tired of eating only chicken or fish and brown rice for every meal. Also, there was so much meal preparation, and my family wanted to have other things for their meals, so I was cooking non-stop! And due to the restrictions, there was the temptation to binge when I fell off the wagon, so to speak.

I have finally determined the best way to lose weight is with a diet meal plan like the NutriSystem weight loss system, Weight Watchers, or The Medifast Program. These diet meal plans are often recommended by doctors, get good results, and users tend to keep the weight off after they reach their goal weight. The key is that they are not overly restrictive. You’ll still enjoy the same kinds of foods that you have now, but you’ll learn to modify your diet and make lifestyle changes that not only help you lose weight, but also improve your health, and keep the weight off over time.

The best way to lose weight fast is with the The Medifast Program. It is a clinically proven, doctor recommended meal plan that can help you lose as much as 20 pounds in 30 days.  The other diet meal plans may take a bit longer to lose the weight, but they are easy and effective.

Personally, the Weight Watchers plan has finally been working for me, but I’ll keep you posted with my progress.
